After 34 years, I came back to the church to discover that the Blessed Mother had been taking a beating while I was away. Protestants I worked with said it was awful that we pray to Mary. Until more recently, when Padre Carlos arrived, the priests at St. Tim’s hardly ever mentioned Her, especially from the pulpit. One deacon at St Tim’s scorned me when I asked a question about Fatima. “Oh, we’re not required to believe in that stuff” he said, with a smug smile. He meant, so why should we.
After reading, just the first chapter, of “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin”, by St. Louis Marie de Monforte, I discovered that, praying to Mary is optional, unless you want the straightest path to Jesus. As for me, I prefer this path. Although I’ve being praying the Rosary for a couple of years, I can honestly say that I’m finally 100% at home with Mary, my awesome Mother. I’ll bring some 1st chapters tomorrow for those who are interested. It’s in the public domain.
